About Zarjana

From the Swat Valley, with care

Zarjana began with a simple idea: to take the beauty of traditional craftsmanship and present it in a way that feels refined, timeless, and relevant today.

What started with a love for handcrafted shawls and intricate detailing gradually became something much bigger. We wanted to create pieces that carry the character of South Asian artistry while meeting the quality, presentation, and experience expected by customers around the world.

The name

To us, Zarjana represents beauty with depth — something precious, graceful, and made to last. It stands for the values behind everything we create: craftsmanship, heritage, and individuality.

More than a brand name, Zarjana is the feeling we want every piece to carry — something special enough to be remembered, worn with meaning, and passed on with time.

Three promises — craftsmanship, heritage, individuality. Everything we make is measured against them.

Home

Swat is home for us. It is where we grew up, where our sense of beauty was shaped, and where much of Zarjana's identity comes from.

The valley has a quiet richness to it — in its landscapes, traditions, craftsmanship, colours, and way of life. Growing up around that environment gave us a deep appreciation for detail, patience, and things made with care.

Building Zarjana from Swat is our way of carrying a piece of that heritage forward and sharing it with people far beyond the valley.

The makers

Our pieces are made by skilled artisans who work across different stages of the process — from embroidery and hand painting to appliqué, naqshi, dabka, finishing, and detailing.

Many of these techniques rely on handwork, patience, and years of experience. A single piece can pass through several hands before it is complete, with each artisan contributing a different skill to the final design.

That human touch is an important part of Zarjana. We do not want our pieces to feel mass-produced. We want them to carry the individuality, time, and craftsmanship of the people who make them.

Six crafts — embroidery · hand painting · appliqué · naqshi · dabka · finishing. Learned over years, never rushed.

The difference

Zarjana is not built around simply selling shawls. We are building pieces with a sense of identity, story, and permanence.

What makes us different is the combination of traditional craftsmanship with a more refined, contemporary point of view. We pay attention not only to embroidery or fabric, but to the entire experience — the design, the finishing, the way a piece is presented, packed, and remembered.

For us, a Zarjana piece should feel personal, distinctive, and worth keeping long after the occasion has passed.
